About Mama Shepherd
Mama Shepherd is a free guide for mothers, from pregnancy through the school years. It is for every mother, and it takes special care with neurodivergent mothers and mothers of children with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other differences.
It is made by Hope for Americans, which builds free digital resources for Americans. It began as a guide for mothers in Flagstaff, Arizona, and now serves mothers across the United States, in English and Spanish. There are no ads, no accounts, and nothing to buy.
Our faith
Mama Shepherd is rooted in the Lutheran tradition. At its heart is grace: God's love is a gift, not something we earn, and certainly not something earned by being a perfect mother. The name comes from the shepherd in Isaiah 40:11, who carries the lambs close and “gently leads the nursing ewes.”
Each page ends with a short Bible verse from the Berean Standard Bible, a free translation. Tap any reference to read it in context on Free Scripture. You are welcome here whatever you believe. None of the help on this site depends on faith.
How we write this
- Health and safety information follows public guidance from the CDC, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), ACOG, the National Institutes of Health, Postpartum Support International, and the other organizations named on each page.
- Every page names its sources and links straight to them, so you can check our work.
- Pages are written in plain language, with a short version first, for tired eyes and busy minds.
- No doctor, nurse, or therapist reviews these pages before they go up. They are written carefully from the sources above and checked against them. Pages were last checked in October 2026.
- This is information, not medical advice. Your own doctor, midwife, or pediatrician knows your situation.

Accessibility
Text meets WCAG AA contrast. You can make the text larger, switch to dark mode, or let it turn dark at night on its own. Motion is kept small and turns off if your device asks for less motion. A readable font (Atkinson Hyperlegible) is used throughout. Every page works without JavaScript and prints cleanly.
